Once again we have been inundated with a request to host our infamous 7’s Tournament in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside to provide yet another excuse for serious rugby addicts to spare themselves from the Saturday shopping trip.

We are currently formulating the arrangements for the day that will largely depend on the number of poor unfortunates that sign up for the festivities. We are looking to host 16 teams with the Main Competition providing a trophy plus medals PLUS £500 for the winners and a trophy for the runners up, plus a trophy for the winners of the Plate Competition. Each team will get at least 3 games.

We currently project that the first matches will kick off at 10.30 am with the Main Final being played at 5.00 pm. We will confirm final arrangements nearer the date.

Naturally, the bar will be open throughout the day and burgers and hot dogs will be on sale from our state of the art BBQ.

I therefore have great pleasure in inviting your club or team to participate in Reading Abbey’s 7’s Tournament and we trust that you will bring your supporters along to participate in the fun and add to the ambience of the occasion.

The Entry Fee is a mere £40 per team and an Entry Form is enclosed. Entries must be returned by Tuesday 22^nd April at the latest together with your entry fee. In view of past experience we must now state “no pre-pay – no play”. We would also appreciate your advice if you are not intending to attend so we can ensure a full house on the day.

We look forward to welcoming you to Reading Abbey on 17^th May for what we are certain will be a most enjoyable day featuring the abbreviated game.
